High performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) is used to separate compounds that are dissolved in solution. It is an analytical technique used to separate, identify and quantify components in a mixture.
Analytical HPLC/UHPLC systems are high performance liquid chromatography systems that are used to analyze and/or purify liquid mixtures. The sample liquid is mixed with the mobile phase and run through a column that contains the stationary phase.
Typical analytical HPLC systems consist of a pump, an injector or autosampler and at least one detector. Pumping systems come in three variants, isocratic, low pressure gradient and high-pressure gradient. Pump head materials can either be 316 stainless steel or ceramic, for those requiring an inert version. We have pumps rated from 400 bar all the way up to 1000 bar of back pressure. The 1000 bar UHPLC pump is required for applications utilizing sub two micron particle size columns. Injectors can be manual injectors, electrically actuated injectors or autosamplers. When it comes to autosamplers, Icon offers a basic autosampler, as well as a full range of high-performance autosamplers. Autosamplers are available with heating and cooling options as well as inert versions. Our systems provide the opportunity to analyze almost every compound with our wide array of detector options. Icon’s most basic detector is an LED detector. LED detectors are the ideal option for teaching labs, quality control, quality assurance and for use as a scout detector for PET isotopes.
We also offer a dual wavelength LED detector, variable wavelength UV detectors, multiwavelength detectors, a basic diode array detector as well as a high-end diode array detector. All of Icon’s detectors are available with optional fiber optic cables which enable the use of a remote flow cell. Remote flow cells are beneficial in applications where you need to heat or cool the flow cell as well as in PET isotope applications. Our product line also includes refractive index detectors are also part of our product line. Other detectors are available upon request.
Icon Scientific’s analytical HPLC and UHPLC systems provide accurate, reproducible, robust performance for routine and conventional liquid chromatography.
Analytical HPLC systems are used in analytical chemistry, molecular weight determination, pharmaceutical and drug science, clinical science, food and beverage, consumer products, combinatorial chemistry, polymer chemistry, green chemistry, oil & gas and more.
Whether you are doing routine analysis, quality control, quality assurance or research our systems provide the proper tools to conquer your analytical HPLC challenges.
Icon’s most basic analytical HPLC/UHPLC systems can be controlled by keypad or touch panel and data can be sent to a data acquisition software package. Many systems are controlled by Clarity Software, which also handles data collection and processing.
Optional software modules are available for GPC and 3D spectral data for diode array detectors. A to D converters are available to collect analog data from a detector that is not controlled by the software. The most typical example is the radio detector, which is used for a PET isotope in conjunction with a UV detector.
